In recent years, Prof. Chuan Lin has presided over 2 national projects and 5 provincial and ministerial projects (2 key projects), with the main direction of machine learning and machine vision, specifically the research of computational model for target detection, tracking and recognition in complex scenes, medical image processing, etc. He has also presided over a number of horizontal projects of enterprises, including real-time tracking of materials on production lines, indoor and outdoor robotic inspection, product inspection, etc., with a total funding of more than 2 million yuan for the above projects. The total funding for the above projects is more than 2 million RMB. He has published more than 70 research papers in authoritative core journals at home and abroad, among which, 27 SCI papers were published by the first author/corresponding author (4 Top journals of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and 6 journals of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)), and more than 40 invention patents were authorized by the first rank. He was awarded the second prize of Guangxi Higher Education Autonomous Region Teaching Achievements, and guided graduate students to participate in the National Finals of China Graduate Student Electronic Design Competition, the National Finals of China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition, and the China International Internet Plus Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students, and won more than 20 awards (4 second prizes and 1 third prize at the national level, and 6 first prizes and 15 second prizes at provincial and ministerial levels). He has been awarded the title of Excellent Entrepreneurship Tutor in Guangxi Region of China International “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, Excellent Instructor at provincial and ministerial level, Excellent Graduate Student Instructor of Guangxi University of Science and Technology, and Excellent Teacher of Guangxi University of Science and Technology for a number of times. He has trained 18 graduated graduate students: 5 of them are studying for doctoral degree in University of Electronic Science and Technology (double first-class university), Southwest University (211 university), Southwest Jiaotong University (211 university), and the graduate students have been awarded the National Scholarship, Academic Star, Outstanding Thesis, and Outstanding Graduates for many times.

Prof. Chuan Lin is a member of the Visual Cognition and Computing Committee of the Chinese Society of Image Graphics, the director of the Liuzhou Key Laboratory of Machine Vision, an expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, an expert of the Ministry of Education of China in scientific and technological evaluation and assessment, an expert of the Ministry of Education of China International “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students, an expert of the scientific and technological project assessment of Guangxi, Hebei and Jiangxi Provinces. He is also an expert of Guangxi New Type Think Tank Alliance, an expert of Liuzhou Science and Technology Project, an expert of Liuzhou Big Data Development Strategy, a member of Academic Committee of Guangxi University of Science and Technology, a member of Editorial Board of Journal of Guangxi University of Science and Technology, a deputy director of Professor Committee of School of Automation, and the head of Brain Computing and Machine Vision Research Team of School of Automation of Guangxi University of Science and Technology. 近年来，主持国家级项目2项，省部级项目5项（重点项目2项），主要方向为机器学习与机器视觉，具体为复杂场景下目标检测、跟踪、识别的计算模型研究、医学图像处理等；主持企业横向项目多项，包括生产线物料实时跟踪、室内外机器人巡检、产品检测等，上述项目总经费200余万元。国内外权威核心期刊公开发表研究论文70余篇，其中，第一作者/通信作者发表SCI论文27篇（中科院一区Top期刊4篇，二区期刊6篇），排名第一获发明专利授权40余件。排名第一获广西高等教育自治区级教学成果二等奖，指导研究生参加中国研究生电子设计竞赛全国总决赛、中国机器人及人工智能大赛全国总决赛、中国国际互联网+大学生创新创业大赛等比赛，获比赛奖励20余项（国家级二等奖4项、三等奖1项，省部级一等奖6项、二等奖15项）。多次获中国国际“互联网+”创新创业大赛广西赛区优秀创业导师、省部级优秀指导教师称号，获广西科技大学优秀研究生指导教师、广西科技大学优秀教师称号。培养已毕业研究生18名：5人攻读电子科技大学（双一流高校）、西南大学（211高校）、西南交通大学（211高校）博士学位，研究生获得国家奖学金、学术之星、优秀毕业论文、优秀毕业生多次。
